Day 7: 180508 Taichung

A day to the 九族文化村 means something different.. im not sure about the fun that lies in this area but once we reach the entrance, we knew it is going to be real fun!

there were amusement rides, little wooden houses..some handicrafts made by different tribes.. heard say at the present moment.. there are already 14 tribes..their costumes, their dances, their languages are all unique.. but all of them are very frenly..they have a common word in their language which have different meaning.. "Naruwan"..and in 九族文化村,they will always say Naruwan, 爱你哦!

it was very enjoyable to watch the one-hour performance by the different tribes..the emcee spoke English and Chinese very well..so far, all 原主民look very dark.. only 阿美族 people look very fair.. some people even joked saying maybe becuz being fair is a beauty, so they were belong to 美!

oh...and there were also 山猪 sighted..they look huge!
dear had archery game and shot a balloon.. but the prize was just an extra arrow.. quite inferior as compared to the time when we played archery in cambodia and he got a free coke for shooting bull's eye haha..we had bamboo rice for lunch.. it was very yummy.. the bbq chicken in the above collage was prepared by the Bunun tribe..they are very capable in bbq food..pottery was the art in Rukai Tribe.. i made myself a pottery cup and brought back as a souvernir..

小米酒 was thought to be like the water which 原主民often drink.. they were said to drink it everyday..maybe after a day's work..u can also take a cable car ride up the mountain.. they are currently constructing a cable car ride from 九族文化村to Sun Moon Lake.. it will be a fantastic idea to explore these 2 attractions in one go once this construction is completed.. said to be next year!

Pottery cup made~

we took a few pics with 原主民from different tribes.. all very friendly..at the top left, I took a picture with a lady from 邵族,she surprised me by askin that I must send her this picture we took..haha..on the top right, dear took a pic with i tink is the Paiwan Tribe..the man whom I took with is from Rukai Tribe..the sturdy guy whom we took with is a 猎人, if i didnt rmb wrongly.. also from the Paiwan tribe..

there was a stall allowing rentals of their tribe costumes.. one person $4.. you can take pics within 15min.. what we were wearing belong to costumes from the Paiwan Tribe..it was an experience.. there were many layers..and wrap you up like a rice dumpling..somemore that day weather hot haha..but to make it worthwhile we snapped many pics with us in the costumes.. shown here are just 4.. in fact we took more haha..a memorable experience!

and there was something interesting.. in some areas of the park.. we see sculptures of this..esp the one seen below whcih is very huge!..the tribal people seem to worship this a lot.. and they do emphasize is impt to 传宗接代...haha

the day ended with us walking aimlessly around Taichung Railway Station to scourage for food and food and more food.. we also saw fireworks in Taichung.. not sure what's the event but it was beautiful!forgot to mention that Zaw Jung Business Hotel is a splendid hotel with excellent location just opposite the rear entrance of Taichung Railway Station.. comfortable beds, big room and nice shower facilities!also affordable..each of us spend like less than sgd30/night..
